Just as it’s important to look after our physical health needs, it’s also important to look after our mental health needs. Self-care is, therefore, for everyone, not just those struggling with mental health issues.
Self-care is about taking care of our emotional wellbeing and personal needs. Making changes to the way we look after ourselves can positively impact our mental health, and even prevent difficulties from getting worse.
Self-care is a starting point, and not always a substitute to accessing professional help. If you feel professional help is what you need, you can seek help via your GP or by calling 111. You don’t have to deal with your problems alone.
